Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Bells Farm Primary School believes that every child should feel valued, included and able to succeed.

Children learn in different ways and at different speeds. Some may find aspects of learning more challenging during their school journey.  Our job is to make sure that all children get the support they need to thrive.

How do we support our pupils?

Our Inclusion Lead and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) is Mrs Hudson. She works closely with our parents, pastoral team, teachers and outside professionals to ensure that children with additional needs are identified early and supported effectively.

Support might include:

  • Adapting work to make it more accessible
  • Working in smaller groups or individually for specific learning support
  • Using specific resources or strategies

Here at Bells Farm Primary, we are committed to ensuring that all children, including those with additional needs, access a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum. Support is reviewed regularly and adapted as children grow and their needs change.

Graduated approach

Many children will require some additional support at some point during their time with us. Often, these needs can be met through high-quality classroom teaching.

Where a child needs something more specific we work in partnership with families and, where appropriate, external professionals. School are supported by the following agencies:

  • Educational Psychology
  • Language and Learning Strategic Support
  • Communication and Autism Team
  • Speech and Language Therapist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physical Support Service
  • Sensory Support Service

We always keep parents informed and updated in the interventions and/or support that is being provided and in the decision-making process.
